Update from Mrs Booker Wednesday 6th January 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

It is with great sadness that we enter another lockdown. We hope that everyone remains safe and well and that the rapid spread of Co-vid19 can be minimised as soon as possible. As you are aware from text messages over the past two days we are working to accommodate the children of Critical Key Workers and vulnerable children from tomorrow. Thank you to those of you who made requests for places within the deadline. It has helped us to organise things more quickly.

The new variant of Co-vid 19 spreads more quickly and schools are natural breeding grounds. Although for many, but not all, children there will be few or no symptoms they can still spread the illness to adults in school and at home.  As such we must endeavour to keep the number of pupils in school to a manageable number.  We therefore echo the plea of the government that children who can stay at home do stay at home. Those who have made a request for a place will have received a phone call to confirm today.  We ask that if there is a parent at home that children remain at home for the safety of all.

Remote learning is in place for all year groups from today. To access the work set for your child please visit the school website  visit the menu selecting children then select class pages for remote learning 2020-2021 the select the appropriate year group.  EYFS is Reception. Your child will find work for each day along with a suggested timetable. Work will be posted prior to the days it is intended for. Introductions will be in video, power point or written format. Some power points have a speaker in the corner and this means there is audio attached.  Children do not have to complete the work online using the sheets provided they may complete on paper if this is not possible.  We do understand that in some homes there is not access to a computer but the website can be accessed on a telephone or tablet too.

Please do not worry about downloading and printing sheets, as already mentioned, children can complete work on paper.

The children can ask questions, send work and generally keep in touch through their class emails. These are detailed on the remote learning class pages. Our mentors will also be making well-being calls periodically to speak to the children. The children in school will complete the work for the day from the website. They will be supervised by a member of staff who may not be their usual class teacher.

We hope that we will all be together again soon. Please take care and stay safe.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Booker
